Building a strong house
The children in Miss Clarke's class were asked to build a model of a house that would survive a blow from the 'Big Bad Wolf'.
They had to plan carefully, and think about the best materials and strategies to use in order to make sure their house stays standing up. Firstly, they worked in groups to record a plan, and then they demonstrated outstanding teamwork to create their house model. They drew on their knowledge of house structures, as well as what they already know about the properties of materials from their Science lessons. After they created their model houses, we then tested them out using the 'Big bad fan' to see if they could withstand a "huff and and puff." It was brilliant to hear their evaluations and what went well and why, as well as what they would have changed to make it more successful.
