In History this half term, we have begun to explore and understand the terminology of past and present. We have been looking at homes and objects you find in houses. This past week, the children were given some objects from the past to explore. They were asked in their groups to explore the objects thinking about the materials they were made from and what they could be used for. The children came up with some very interesting ideas.

All the children were able to say that the phone and camera were what they were. They were very interested when they were fully shown that the video used to have a tape, which meant they were not able to see the video straight away like now. They were even more shocked to learn that they would have to wait at least two weeks!

With the rug beater, the children were none the wiser as to what it was. They guessed a pizza tool, a bat for sports, a fan or even a wand for a king.

The iron did get one correct guess, but the other guesses included a wood cutter, something to make things and even an ornament.

The washboard again had one correct guess, other guesses included a chopper and a broken chair.
