This week, year 4 are focusing on column subtraction. Today, they began with a recap of 3-digit subtraction. Around the KS2 trim trail, there were subtraction calculations represented in 4 different ways — bar model, part whole model, counters and dienes. The children had to first work out the calculation from the representation, before writing it down in the column method and answering it.
