In History this half term, we have been looking at how things in our homes have changed over time. We are very fortunate to have some physical items to explore at school. The children really enjoyed exploring these items and discussing their ideas of what they thought they were. Some things the children knew straight away, others they thought of some very inventive ideas! 

The items we explored and the children ideas of what they thought they were are:-

Metal non-electric iron- 'doorstop' 'toy iron' 'spaghetti maker' 'baker' 

Rug Beater- 'fan' 'sweeping brush' 'pizza oven shovel' 

Wash Board- 'to make music' 'tray' 'to wash clothes' 'to cook food on'

Telephone and Camera- the children were all able to identify these and were able to have great discussions about how much they have changed. 

The children loved finding out what each of these items were at the end and discussing their modern day alternatives!
